For APWORKS, 2017 was a year full of amazing events and trade shows, impressive partner companies and interesting customer projects.

The Additive Manufacturing industry has continued to grow, and technical developments are steadily affecting the industry. New machines, material developments and post processing methods.

The Light Rider – our project of 2016 still gained attention this year with getting elected from CNN Style as one of the top ten motorcycles. Customers that apply additive manufacturing this year are benefiting from weight reduction and functional integration. There are various applications in the motorsports industry needing lightweight but high performant parts in the shortest production time. Additive Manufacturing, when already considering in the design process enables further benefits such as optimized heat management as shown in the 3i-PRINT partner project. A project that demonstrates the full potential of industrial 3D printing within the automotive industry.

Additive Manufacturing further exploits its potential, when material is used that was developed specifically for AM, such as Scalmalloy®. To increase the availability of Scalmalloy® for numerous customers and a wide range of applications ranging from aerospace to automotive up to robotics, TOYAL and LPW will distribute the powder and optimize its production process.

2017 was a year full of customers visiting our headquarters in Taufkirchen. There were exceptional events like the BMW i8 customer event including a helicopter pursuit, but also impressive keynote speeches at Autodesk University or Converge.

November even exceeded all the events before with an amazing week at formnext 2017 in Frankfurt. While the overall visitors increased by 60%, the customers being interested in APWORKS services increased by 80%.

Thank you to everyone making 2017 special!

We are already looking forward to 2018!
